Hi,
I’m Victoriah, and I love food!
For six years I have lived and breathed the Culinary Industry. I worked in many different restaurants, cooked many different styles of food and met many beautiful people from colorful backgrounds. Being a cook comes with its ups and downs. From a crazy fourth wind on a 12 hour day to deep cleans on a Saturday night, there is never a dull moment in the kitchen. It really felt like a long term relationship and I am genuinely thankful for this period of my life. However, towards the end, my body was beginning to show signs of wear and tear from my hands to my back. I realized that I needed a break.
Thankfully, when the pandemic came I found some much needed clarity. I had been living to work and not working to live. I had all of these skills and had become an asset, but I was beginning to lose sight of my dreams because I was continually working for someone else’s dream. Then I landed a job working from home with benefits, two breaks and an hour lunch a day. I jumped at the chance to step back a few paces and make some big kid money.
Working remotely has given me space to contemplate what I want to eat and what I want to cook. I was always following someone else’s recipe and never created my own. Working from home allows me to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for myself with no reservations. I am hoping to establish a new skill set, recipe creation! This platform will be my playground.
For the last three years, I have been struggling to make the change into complete dairy free living. It is so hard to navigate the food world without milk products. Going out to eat is nigh impossible without making some sort of modification to a meal. However, there are still times when I have made all of the proper specifications only to find that the croutons, bread, the meatballs have some sort of dairy in it! It feels like poison coursing through my veins. I can feel it within 20 minutes of eating that the food has some semblance of dairy in it.
In conclusion, the goal of this blog is to provide Dairy Free alternatives in all walks of life. Whether it be eating out at a restaurant, picking up fast food, or cooking from home. It is important to be able to navigate the world with confidence that the next meal won’t upset your stomach or give you an allergic reaction. I learned by trial, error, and bodily pain. With my guidance and techniques you can learn from my mistakes and lead a an easy dairy free lifestyle.
